across the river …

This was the view from the top of the Hyatt in Jersey City this afternoon as a storm rolled in over Manhattan from the West.  The photo doesn’t do it justice - you just had to see Manhattan slowly being engulfed in mist, followed by hard sudden rain.  You can actually see the streaks of rain in the photo.

And here is what it looked like as the storm clouds rolled in from Jersey City.
It reminded me of a Ghostbusters kind of sky.

    Neil,

What are you doing in Jersey City? I live in Bayonne, been travelling through the Exchange Place hub most of my life and never have seen the Goldman building looking so dramatic. Looks like it is pushing the clouds up and over it…nice

If there’s something strange in your neighborhood, who can you call? Neil Van Niekerk! Totally beautiful job catching that weather Neil!

You passed through my area. :)
You don’t often feature non-portrait photographs on you blog, so it is interesting to see these images. These are very “dramatic” photographs.

That’s very cool! I wouldn’t have believed it’s real if I hadn’t seen it in your post!

    Fantastic, Neil!
I was there two weeks ago. Did not have the opportunity to see Mahattan the way you saw it. Thanks for sharing.
